FAQ

Questions we
get asked.

Everything you need to know before your first visit — insurance, payment, appointments, and services.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. We accept all PPO dental insurance plans. The Smile Commons is an out-of-network provider, which means no restrictions on the care you receive or the materials we use. We file your claim directly — you just show up.

What if I don’t have dental insurance?

No problem. Many of our patients don’t carry dental insurance. We offer five financing partners with buy-now, pay-later options, and we can phase treatment across multiple visits to spread out the cost. Insurance is never a requirement to be seen here.

Will you file my claim for me?

Yes. The team submits your insurance claim on your behalf after every visit. Reimbursement is sent directly to you or applied to your account balance. No paperwork on your end.

What payment methods do you accept?

Apple Pay, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and cash. We also accept FSA and HSA cards. For patients who prefer to pay over time, we partner with CareCredit, Proceed Finance, PatientFi, Lending Club, and Cherry.

What happens at my first visit?

A full oral exam, 3D X-rays, and a thorough cleaning. Dr. Kiyan reviews everything with you and provides a clear breakdown of any additional dental needs, which can be scheduled for a later visit. No surprises, no pressure.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.

Do you accept walk-ins?

We are appointment-only. You can book online or call the office — same-week availability is often open.

What’s the difference between a cleaning and a whitening?

A cleaning is a health procedure — it removes plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth and along the gum line to prevent cavities and gum disease. A whitening is cosmetic — it uses a professional bleaching agent to lift stains and brighten the natural color of your teeth. Cleaning maintains oral health; whitening improves appearance. We recommend a cleaning before any whitening treatment for the best results.

Can I get both done the same day?

Yes. Our Clean & Whiten Combo is designed for exactly that — a full cleaning followed by a professional whitening in a single two-hour appointment.

Is teeth whitening safe for sensitive teeth?

Yes, when done under professional supervision. Dr. Kiyan evaluates your teeth before any whitening treatment and adjusts the approach based on your sensitivity level. Professional-grade products are formulated to minimize irritation, and any temporary sensitivity typically resolves within a day or two.
